A Second Look at Kosovo

Submitted by Leila, Mar 20, 2008 10:59

Mr. Kontorovich's article brings back an element of sanity in what has become an arena of madness. A voice of reason in a time that seems to be absurd, mocking all the principles and ideals for which too many have struggled to establish since the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 -- the rule of law, order.

I have heard that Kosovo is a special case, an exception. This is absurd. You either believe in law or you do not. You either uphold it or you do not. You do not apply it selectively when it is convenient.

If we abandon the law and all of these hard won institutions, treaties, and approve that whoever can do whatever they want whenever and however than prepare for chaos.

Our country's foreign policy in the region has been partial and drips of a double standard. As a result, we have ensured that there will NOT be peace and stability in the region. We have aided and abetted an element that is not looking to establish a multicultural, democratic regime. The trafficking of drugs and humans exploded in Kosovo under the Albanian rule. Bush released arms to Albanians one hour ago today (AFP newswire). I wonder how long it will take for Albanians to start shooting at Americans and other peacekeeping troops.

When might makes right, there is no place for peace or beauty in this world. In what world do you want to live?
