Mayor Orders Six Failing Schools To Close Their Doors
in response to reader comment: US education system is fine.

There is a problem the U.S Educational System. The World is getting flatter every day and if we, the U.S want to compete on a global level than the U.S Educational System better change and it better change fast. The U.S Educational System is a mess. It focuses on facts that can now be found at the touch of a button. We learn long lists of battles, dates, wars, etc when we can just google them. Students need to be taught how to think. Their also needs to be a more rigourous training in the maths and sciences but that alone won't work. With a flat world, America needs people who can think horizontally and who can connect disparate dots. That means education in art, music, and literature need to be stressed also for they are essential for innovation. The whole U.S Educational system needs re-organizing if America wants to even consider competing globally.
