Company To Weigh In on Horse-Drawn Carriage Debate

Submitted by Horse Advocate, Mar 25, 2008 16:12

Make no mistake about it, the people defending this small business are in it for the money. The horses are considered disposable commodities. They last for an average of only 3-4 years on the street. They are replaceable, like any other vehicle. Anyone who would put an animal in the streets of NYC, in extreme weather, strapped to a carriage for 9 hours, without daily turnout, in direct sun during the summer, on hard, hot pavement, without adequate water is doing it for one thing: cash. And it's a cash-only business, so you can imagine how lucrative it must be. These people have gotten away with murder because they have supporters at high levels of government. It's time to get rid of this outmoded, cruel, polluting relic.
