Obama Shapes an Agenda Beyond Iraq War
in response to reader comment: Inexperience

Submitted by Joe, Dec 27, 2006 15:09

The inexperience attack on Obama is a point, but it only goes so far (that is, not very). Experience is a secondary attribute. Intelligence (including judgment) and character, both of which Obama has in abundance, trump experience. Without the two former attributes, the latter is meaningless, if not harmful at times. How well have President Bush's middling business experiences and soft six years as governor served us since he has proven to not have the intelligence, character or leadership skills necessary to be president? No one available had more foreign policy experience than Rumsfeld. How did that work out? Cheney was as experienced as they come in numerous areas. Did that make him a good choice (?) -- not so much. By the way, in '08 Obama will have about the same foreign policy experience as John Edwards and more than Rudy Giuliani. Yeah, put this independant down for Obama/Clark in '08.
