Is it true that the 60s generation is dying out? I thought the WW II generation (not WW III and WW IV) was dying out. My arithmetic tells me the 60s generation is simply middle-aged.
Does the 60s hold a "death grip" on the imagination? Seems a little extreme. We have had a long run of fine Republican Presidents with conservative or libertarian visions and some imagination.
Were the 60s "barbaric" in their challenge to American civilization? Seems over the top. Barbarism is associated with killing fields and mass murder. Have we overlooked the 60s mass murder and killing fields, State side?
The 60s were radical in its culture and protest politics. The 60s didn't overturn the country; the military; the wealthy elites; big business or big labor.
A low grade utioianism did leave it marks on the generation. But "barbarism" is an extremist characterization of the era. Of course, bashing the 60s is a neo-con cottage industry and a reviewer has to start somewhere. Right? Beat that dead horse!
