People Abandoning New York State, New Data Indicate

Submitted by Stephannie Howard, Dec 28, 2006 17:44

I grew up in NYC and spent significant time in upsatte NY, especially in the South FAllsburg region in the early 80s. The only real jobs then were at the resort hotels such as Grossinger's. The wages were unliveable; we really worked for tips: maids, and dining room service staff. Now those seasonal establishments are gone. What sort of work is there for young and middleaged workers in That part of New York now? Even then it wasn't really aliving wage.
