As a retired military, I recall that when on active duty, you cannot participate in political campaigns or with groups with a political agenda. We were told this when we entered the military and it is in documentation that is signed by the military member. Whoever did this is doing it illegally and could be charged for it. The military does not care if you participate in political campaigns when you are discharged from activie duty, but it is not condoned while on active duty. I signed many documents over the years that confirms this and I was outraged when I heard about it.
