Mr. Halkin's otherwise objective, informative article veered terribly awry when you played amateur taxonomist in defining who's a "real Jew." Besides his unmitigated gall & the blatant prejudice against assimilated Jews manifested in his attempt to define who's Jewish, Halkin leaves out three key considerations for inclusion in the "big tent" Jewish community. do other Jews consider one Jewish, whether non-Jews tend to perceive you as Jewish, and if an ethnic Jew is a strong supporter of Israel. Whether you ask for mayonaise for your turkey sandwich at a Jewish-style deli is beside the point.
