I am a former New Yorker who has lived in the Minnesota for the past seven years now. It was a huge adjustment at first, but I noticed the last time I visited home, it just didn't feel the same. I do agree with the midwest having a bit more "common sense." Minnesota is a great place to raise a family too. I grew up around brick buildings and a train track right out my window, so I've come to appreciate the shift in scenery. Not to mention the safety net the midwest has become, compared to big cities that are targets in the evil days we live in. One thing I do miss is the diversity of NYC, but things are changing out here too.
