I agree with you article, to a point. The facts and figures are great, but as you know sports is about emotion and momentum. It is here where Randolph's divergence from his team is most telling. He is trying to paint the Mets with the same brush as the Yankees. They are not the Yankees. They do have talented younger players who display an exhuberence for the game. Let them. Even at the risk of offending the "baseball purest". The so-called experts all recite the play where Randolph disciplined Reyes for not running out a grounder as the momentum changer in Reyes' play, refering to Reyes as tempermental. I disagree. I believe it is Randolph's constant insistence that Reyes tones done his exhuberence with his handshakes as he greets teammates after a good play. This is what the kid is. Let him play and celebrate as fits the team. Randolph should concern himself more about making managerial decisions during the game and let the players have some fun.
