The question is not how much power does the City Council have but the question should be exactly what does the City Council do?
Personally, I have lived in the City all my life and frankly I still don't know what they do. The only thing that I remember the council doing is causing problems. They have meeting where nothing but yelling and screaming happen. They vote themselves large (I mean very large) raises, put money into a fund that no one knows about.
So I have to ask the question why come down on Ms. Quinn's head when frankly none of the City Council members have done anything for at least the white people of this City.
Frankly, I think the City Council should be disbanded and let a commission of city residents (four people from each borough, with no political agenda) take over. This commission should be made of one of each of the following groups; White, Black, Asian and Hispanic and should be changed every two years. This commission could be headed by a judge who could interrupt the law.
Lastly, if we keep the Council as is then I say let's cut their salary by at least 35% each. I ask my fellow New Yorkers what do you think.
