Romney's Mormon Faith Proves Divisive

No one ever, anywhere in the history of the world has "proven" any religion to be true. This is in spite of more effort being expended trying to do this than almost any other subject.

If we can't decide if a given religion is right, perhaps we should for all our good start looking at what is the results from a given belief?

Given all the criticism of the Mormon beliefs, there is a almost total lack of criticism of Mormons as individuals. In fact, rather than being the expected bad result of a defective belief, almost everyone acknowledges the Mormons tend to be very decent, successful people, with strong family values.

Mormon people are very supportive of each other. This very successful lifestyle caused much of the early resistance and hatred of the Mormons. When they came to Illinois, they quickly worked together to build a city that rivaled Chicago and became the economic center of the area. If they saw a need for a town, a town soon appeared. The people who were there before they came understandably felt very threatened by this over the top success of the Mormons. Rather than emulate the causes of the Mormon success, forget the religion, and work hard together and produce their own success, their solution was to get rid of the Mormons. The Mormons left and went to the most God forsaken desert imaginable and continued to produce stable and successful communities and lives.

You may believe the Mormon religion is as wacky and bogus as could possibly be created. The Mormons don't feel that way and that should be up to them. I am just saying I have trouble finding where the Mormons have done much harm, especially compared to many other groups, and this should have a place in the discussion.
