Marriage, as far as the government should be concerned, is a contract between adults. Making consensual, committed relationships between adults illegal is ridiculous and discriminatory. Is my husband somehow worse than an adulterer because he has another wife he is committed to? Instead of abandoning his first wife and children for the second wife, or disgracing his other love by keeping her as a "piece in the side," he has promised to love and support both of us and our children.
