Pet-Renting Concept Termed 'Shocking'

Submitted by hamster, Jul 30, 2008 16:05

I am not really shocked that this business has succeeded, saddened, but not shocked. The human race is fast becoming a breed of selfish egotistical shallow creatures, and this service caters to them. It's all about money, 100%. The owner can claim altruistic reasons all she wants, I do not believe it. Since this article was written the prices have gone up considerably, and the claim that clients are extensively screened is crap. You fill out an application, send money, and in 24 hours, bingo, you are renting companionship from the doggie pimps. Animals are not a fashion accessory, nor are they beer buddies you can hang out with for the weekend. If you cannot afford the time to care for a pet, then go volunteer at a pet shelter, yes, you can take off your $3K suit and do some real good for a dog. Or go spend the day with a friend who has a dog, and play with theirs. Or better yet, face the fact that you decided to put money before living things in your life, and live with your decision. I really hope this is one business that fails, but sadly it will probably do well, because who feeds it? People with way more money than sense.
