What This Deal Means From a Yankee Perspective

The Yanks didn't just get Xavier Nady, who was having a very good year. They got Damaso Marte, whom the Sox, still without relief help. Oh, and the trade the Yanks made didn't make them worse in any dimension. While I agree that trading Jeter should be an option, I don't think it is. Do you? With a new stadium opening? Anyway, it was the organizational depth comparison that seemed askew since it took Manny Rodriguez, two young Sox Players, two Dodger prospects and $7 Million for them to get Jason Bay. That's not organizational depth, that's organizational desperation. Organizational depth is how the Yanks got Nady and Marte for surplus parts and no money down.
