A Showcase for Opera's ‘It' Girl

The weakest link in the opera was the tenor who in my estimate was awful. Miss Netrebko was good but I thought what would this have been like with Sutherland or Callas? I thought her coloratura was non existent. The best voice of the evening was the bass who begged indulgence for his bronchitis. This I Puritani was okay but the Met should not really stage it unless they have all the voices to carry it through. What would this have been like with Sutherland, Pavarotti, and Ramey in their primes? Why was this never staged with them?
