New Law Allows Residents To Fight Unwanted Fliers

Submitted by Bob Harmon, Aug 6, 2008 07:53

Thank you Council Member Simcha Felder. After years of pleading with our council member's office (Tish Davis) to take action, at last somebody is responding. Years ago I gave Council Member Davis a name, phone number, and email address of a public servant in Philadelphia where they have a long-standing litter law that works. Davis' office appears to be worried about resistance from local storefront businesses, but no one at her office will give us a reason for not responding to homeowner requests. Actually, the worst offenders are the big-box stores located far from our neighborhood. They are the ones who leave the plastic-wrapped litter everywhere to create slip-and-fall hazards and recycling problems. Please keep us informed about enforcement procedures.
