Look at the definition at m-w.com. Here's the first part of its definition of the word marriage: "(1): the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law (2): the state of being united to a person of the same sex in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage [same-sex marriage]" So the definition (which changed sometime in 2004) that ADF uses doesn't even agree with their philosophy.This is a nuisance lawsuit, NY has always recognized out-of-state and even out-of-country marriages, to change that to block same-sex-couples would be unfair, and open NY to a host of lawsuits that they would lose.
