Movies in Brief: 'Last Stop for Paul'

I think one of this film's greatest qualities is that it doesn't present itself in any pretentious terms. It just tries to give a whirlwind tour of the world with a cut little story attached. I don't agree that it thinks of itself as incredibly outrageous or funny, it just tries to relay the fun of being a stranger in a strange land. Not only that, but any filmmaker would have to respect the fact that the film is virtually all improvised with non-actors who don't even know the language of the man who's trying to direct them. I think this takes some courage on Mandt's part. I can understand trying to tear down something that thinks it's of immense importance but Last Stop For Paul is definitely not guilty of this. I think it deserves better than you're giving it.
