Equal means equal, doesn't it? If everybody isn't equal, then nobody is. That's what we learned from slavery and the oppression of women and other minorities. Surprise! Gay people are the next minority, with the trans community waiting in the wings. Since love became the new gold standard as a criterion for choosing a spouse during the Renaissance period, we have been on a path away from arranged marriage contracts between two men -- the husband and the father of the bride-to-be -- toward a union that is based on the two equal partners loving each other. As we all know but some refuse to accept, love has no bounds. Maybe God really does work in mysterious ways!
