Hezbollah Is Talking on Hostage

Submitted by Hershel Ginsburg, Nov 3, 2006 07:49

Where is Kenneth Roth of Human Rights Watch? Where is Amnesty International? Where is the UN Human Rights commission? Where are all the self-righteous human rights groups? Where are all the demonstrations by "progressive" political groups in front of the Lebanese Embassy? Why aren't all the "peace activist" groups sneaking into Lebanon and demonstrating by Hezbollah facilities?

After all, Red Cross visits of captured prisoners is REQUIRED by international law and the Geneva Convention, and surely all these knights of human rights would insist that ALL sides in a conflict obey the rules (the Red Cross has visited the Lebanese prisoners held by Israel).

But of course how stupid of me... There must be a specific exemption in international law and the Geneva convention that exempts Israelis soldiers from being visited by the Red Cross etc., especially if they were kidnapped from Israeli territory when they were engaged peaceable patrols near the border. Others for sure Kenneth Roth and all the other knights of human rights would be making a big public ruckus about how Hezbollah is violating the prisoners' rights under international law. After all, these groups are not anti-Israel or anything like that.
