Report Finds Little Change in State, City Subsidy to MTA

The method of funding mass transit continues to be out of sync with reality. Not only do we need congestion pricing, we need a carbon tax which would be recycled into less polluting forms of transportation, like mass transit. New York's Mass Transit system saves 8 billion gallons of oil a year and 14 million metric tons of carbon emissions. As we saw in last Saturday's summer streets program, New Yorkers will bike, walk and support their local vendors if given half a chance. It's past time to get our priorities straight.
