Merrill's Marauders Deserve Justice

Submitted by BRAD FIELDER, Aug 15, 2008 20:01

Thank you for your article. My dad, 1st Lt Leonard Fielder, was an officer with the Merrills Marauders. The Marauder Association has a wonderful website detailing their mission, including photos and facts. The History Channel also aired an hour documentary on the Marauders. I never knew much about my Dad's service until well after he died I saw a clip on the History Channel in 2000 and then found the association website www.marauder.org. He never talked about it. He was one of the last to be shipped out and served with Hunter as an intelligence and recon officer. I am lucky to be here. He had nightmares about Burma til the day he died. Growing up, he never wanted to camp or go shooting....it wasn't til I saw the pictures and read the articles and books that I really understood what he went through. He would get real quiet when he saw a C-47 transport fly by. It has been a real study. God Bless our Servicemen. Brad Fielder
