Paterson Boosts Troopers

Her we go again, a 14% pay increase? How much did you get last year people? The State is in a financial crisis, I know how this works, I worked for NYS for 26 years. The Troopers are told that they will get a good raise buy have to work for it, do you know what that means ? It means that they are required to enforce even the most trivial traffic laws, speeding, cell phone use, seatbelt, in order to "pay" for their raise in fines back to the State coffers. Yes I know that "safety" is the dogma response, but tell me why the Troopers are exempt from all the laws I just mentioned, they can speed, talk on a cell phone while driving, not wear a seatbelt, this is all in the law, exemption for law enforcement. They don't receive any special "talk on the cell phone while driving training" or "how to survive a crash without a seatbelt training", yes they do receive some driving training. But the bottom line is that you and me will pay for their "huge raise" many times over.
