I thoroughly enjoyed what you wrote and fully agree with the sentiments expressed. Isn't it a huge pity that in Richard Widmark's hey day he wasn't awarded an Oscar? Could it be, as you suggest, that he was a bit of a rebel and as such didn't meet Hollywood's expectations of a fickle and over glamourous life style? To have been awarded an Hon. Oscar in his latter years would have been insulting and patronising to this articulate and intelligent man. Bravo for posting this article - just wish he was here to read it!!
