I read with surprised delight your story, emailed to me by my father, who lives nearby on Bainbridge Island, Washington (he has a Google Alert with the Jewish Federation of Seattle and our last name, Stumbo). It has been interesting to say the least, as a marketing professional and as one of the victims of the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle shooting this past summer, to observe the path and progress of the subsequent media coverage. Your story captured a lot of my wonderment at where the media could possibly be coming from, covering shameful, yes, behavior by a film star at great length and with great fascination, while treating the Seattle shooting as a "one-day event." Those of us who survived are certainly experiencing a longer story. Pam Waechter's death at the hand of Naveed Haq was a seconds-only story for her. For her family and friends and members of the Seattle community (including those of us who worked closely with her), it's never-ending. Thank you for the acknowlegement of that sad fact of life and death.
