Brees, Not Tomlinson, Deserves MVP

Submitted by Richard L., Jan 4, 2007 07:11

Good piece. Informative too. I wasn't aware Tiki's farewell year was that good. Still, LT's year cemented his vote for the Hall of Fame. You can't deny that. You cannot have Hall of Fame stats and lose the MVP to Drew Brees. If Drew had broken Marino's record then you'd have an argument. As it is he had a great year but no one's calling him a Hall of Famer yet. The weakness of your position is demonstrated by your manipulation of the Tomlinson vs. Hornung comparison. Pulling out the 12 vs. 16 game ploy was a cheap shot and you know it. How many of #5's 176 were PATs wiseguy? I'm sure you know and so does anyone whose opinion should matter. I'll have to state the obvious here; Hornung had only 90 points in touchdowns. Let Hornung keep the field goals and just take off those gimmees and LT's 156 in 12 games tops Hornung by 21. To settle this let's let Drew decide. As a San Diego native I'm well aware of Mr. Brees' character and talents. He's a class act all the way. I guarantee if asked he'll pick LT. Thanks for the column. Your another reason the Sun's the best NY news on the net. RCL
