The limits we place on immigration (despite the fact we have one of the most liberal immigration laws / systems in the world) are there at the behest of labor. Labor before it became weak and PC. The fact that the coworkers of the people seized in the raid were cheering the ICE agents is telling. They know that their wages and benefits are suppressed when there is an endless supply of illegal labor. Not everyone in this country can be a supervisor or manager, someone has to do the work. We can either make sure these jobs are done by legal workers paid good wages, or make jobs so low paying that our citizens turn to welfare or crime instead. Keep in mind that Mexico allows 3,000 people a year to become citizens and then only with racial ties to Mexico. The US allowed 1,500,000 people to become citizens last year and allowed another 1,500,000 people to enter the country legally. We do more on a slow weekend for immigrants then Mexico does in two years. Final point, sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. By enforcing our laws we help legal immigrants and blue collar workers have better lives.
