The Magic Mountain: Adalbert Stifter's 'Rock Crystal'

How wonderful to come on an intelligent appreciation of the work of Adalbert Stifter! Scarcely the reassuing Biedermeyer author that Hannah Arendt thought him to be. Thomas Mann had it right in noting the more than dark undercurrent in his work. If now it could come to the most recent incarnation of Stifter in the work of the later Peter Handke's work, "crossing the sierra del gredos" which received such an abysmal non-reading in your and so many other pages, wouldn't that be something?
