Active Duty GIs Being Recruited To Lobby Congress Against War

Submitted by Monica, Sep 2, 2008 16:56

As a US army daughter, sister, and a soldier's significant other, I feel that active duty military personnel are the ones who deserve to have to most say. It seems that they most of you may disagree but who are you to try and take away a individuals rights when they are the ones putting your life on the line to benefit you so that you may keep your freedom of speech so you can legally speak your ungrateful opinion. I feel as though America needs more grateful people to be in their lobby of Congress because they are the ones experiencing the out look of our Country's Safety and they can better judge from a outside point of view as well as a concerned American citizen. Our Active duty military might have the best idea when it comes to Lobbying against the war or not, because not everyone in active duty has the same opinion but they can give you the best way dealing with it from experience and listening to their point of view, I mean it just so simple. They only want what is best for their county and those they care about. I believe anyone who can put their life on the life is definitely unselfish and considerate of others feelings and the welfare of the good ol' US of A. They probably know more about what is going on than the current lobbyists who are forming their own opinion based off media and their own formed up ideas.Active duty personnel have experience the truth behind the media and they will not give out classified info that is not authorized. They understand what freedom means and duty to our country,So why not give them an opportunity to speak out and help society stand together and stay united. I know you may disagree but at least they have been trained in developing strategies, and forming ideas and concepts through educational training. Most active duty military personel are very talented and educated individual and the military doenst just recruit people becuase they can fight,it takes alot more knowledge and understand of career sciences to protect this country. So who do you think would be more fit to Lobby? I mean I would feel more safe at night if I knew we were being protect throuhg politics and paper and not just fighting this war with weapons and technolgy. We as honorable American citizen should give them a chance to show that they are regular people too and not just a casualty of war or a weapon of revenge. They have voices and opinions too So why should they be ignored of all people.I mean how disrespectful can you be by turning you head away from someone who has shown this county honor and dignity. When all they really wanted was to make their country proud, and make a living to raise theyre family. Some people make think that the military is uneducated and power hungry.I am related to and also friends with many active duty military personnel who just joined the military to afford college tuition and to be able to support their family and felt like giving something more to their country. These are the kind of people we need the most, who are willing to give everything they have for the welfare of their country and other even if it means losing their and not seeing their loved ones or even being able to be given the honor they gave back to their country. I have a very stong feeling that if you just listened and opened your eyes to the bigger picture you would learn alot and truly see that they just want to better their county and that they prefer piece over wall when it comes to America's safety and fighting this war! God Bless becuase everyone is entitle to the right to voice their opinions and freedom of speech! So I ask why would you exclude active duty military?dont you think that's a little too unconsitutional not the American way! Any in respon to those of you whose comments I disagree with. Don't you think a soldier knows that there is a strong possibilty of them being deployed within a year. It is so ignornant to say that they dont know what they dont know what is going on when they signed up.Of course they know there is a war going on, and when they enlisted active duty they were prepared to deal with their decesion of becoming property of the government.I say this becuase they dont really get to keep all their rights and freedoms by joining the military. Most of them dont even get to see their families, pic their job or even pick where they are gonna live. Sometimes the military make decesion for you within only a few hours even.So just to let you know of course they know when they signed up. I mean their families have to live each day knowing that their loved one could be deployed anytime. So I even think that their loved one should have a say as well. I have have no respect for American who are ignorant about the military are so non chalant that they cant even support their own militia when our country is at risk to negative out come to enemies and terrorist. We just to stop being so wrapped up in our own lives and start caring more and working together for a great cause of humanity, this isnt just about the war anymore. It is about our nations stuggles. The blood shed from our previous generation and becoming stronger together and standing united together, This land our home land is truly free because of those who stood brave, and did what was right, even if it meant death,If we continued to stand united, we will not fall. but I am afraid some of you American people are becoming like all for one and one for all. There have been many wars in the past. But America stood Strong and we really need to listen to the voices of those who have the courage to defend what America has earned rightfully and has tried to protect from enemies who are constantly trying steal away or rights and freedom.Lets stand united not act divided, God Bless the USA, cause we sure do need it! p.s This lobby would be a good way to support the troops and morale of soldiers. Maybe even the US.Congress should think how this would be a postive thing for the benefit and welfare of the troops and all US military branches of service!
