Did anyone really think "His Majesty" (the mayor) would easily give-up his power, regardless what the people say? How will he be able to tell us how we "must" live if he leaves office? How will he be able to continue taxing us to death? How will he go on telling us what we can can't eat, smoke, drink, drive, etc.? Our socialist mayor is a control freak! He will do (and spend) anything to stay in power, along with the crooks in the city council. The question is, will the weak, mindless people of NYC allow it!
