Obama and Inequality: On Women in the Workforce

Submitted by John Spencer Yantiss, Sep 3, 2008 18:07

It is grand indeed to hear such honesty about gender issues from a woman, though I have to say that, coming from Diana Furchtgott-Roth, I am not surprised. The feminist I have known best in my life was my great-grandmother, who was born in 1874, and went to college. All of her sisters did as well, with one, Stella Aiken, going on to law school, and becoming the first female judge in the Southeast. My great-grandmother, Georgia Johns, was eminently feminine, but exceedingly strong, in character, discipline, and perseverance. She and her sisters went to college, and succeeded in the workplace in an era when even most men did not go to college. Mr. Obama, and his legions of liberal female supporters would do well to learn what feminism was, before Gloria Steinem and her ilk came on the scene. Thank you, Ms. Furchtgott-Roth.
