While I tend to agree with some the above points, in general things are not as negative as the author paints them. If (admittedly a big "if") the Yankees can sign Teixeira and Sabathia and let Giambi and Pettitte walk this is a huge upgrade. It is reasonable to expect Wang to return to something like a 19 game winner in 2009, and Posada although a year older will return at some point as a big upgrade over Molina. Cano has had a very disappointing year but I expect his future to project more like the previous three years rather than this year. Even with the rest of the team a year older in this scenario I would expect at least a 10 game improvement in the win column over 2008.
