Unthinkable Happens: Manhattan Apartment Prices Fall

The population of the NYC metropolitan area is larger than that of very many nations and probably is the most diverse one in the world. It's quite an accomplishment that the city is doing as it does under the present international conditions, including particularly the new economic competition US faces lately as represented by India & China.

I've been living in NYC for over 20 years, and considering contemporary tendencies and the fact that the population of the world has more than tripled during the past 60 years, living in NYC is obviously like being in the future. It's impossible for any city to maintain its preeminence for too long because the world and its many large urban centers are not static but developing. However, disregarding all its ups and downs, NYC will always remain as an example to imitate, and quite an extraordinary achievement of the US, the nation that moved humankind to a new level of development by reinventing and working steadily towards perfecting the notion of democracy. CS is right in his comments and hopefully is not going to leave NYC.
