McCain: 'I Will Reach Out My Hand'

Submitted by LOGOS, Sep 5, 2008 03:33

John McCain is a great American, a war hero, a capable politician and most likely a good family man. However he was a quasi unconditional member of the party that put America in a rather messy position. There is no question that our standard of living is one of the best in the world but it could much better if in the past five years we didn't spend at least $1 billion on Iraq. A war, that even if we "win" it, won't prevent the Iraqis to democratically elect an Iranian style, violently anti US, theocracy in the very near future AND be infeodated to Iran . The war for which I would have voted for as a member of congress was based on the premise that Iraq was building AMDs and providing an operating base to Al-Queda (Bush) and that will be in and out in 3 to 6 months and would cost $50 to 100 billion at most (Rumsfeld), These statements were either lies or illustrated the administration's incompetence or most likely a mix of both, In the meantime nobody was minding the store on the home front.

Political leaders are supposed to have a modicum of foresight, the handwriting for the energy crisis was on the wall, Yet nothing was done and now the solution is drilling, It's like if you have a high fever induced by pneumonia and you take high doses of aspirin but no antibiotics; your fever will go down but you'll die in a short order. The US national debt has exploded under the two Bush terms, because he cleverly cut taxes and increased expenses as did Reagan by the way with the same results) What does McCain want to do, stay the course (with a few usual political variations on the theme, please see the US National Debt Graph). The handwriting is on the wall, if the Chinese, the Europeans and the Arabs stop buying US debt instruments we'll find ourselves in a financial quagmire which will make 1929 look like a cake walk.
