Bristol Palin will keep her baby, marry the father, and the three will live their lives. You left out the part where Bristol divorces her hubby six months after the wedding. The divorce rates for those who marry as teens approaches 50%, and the political pressure from 300 million Americans surely won't help. Fortunately for the McCain-Palin ticket, if that occurs, it'll happen after the election. Alternately and more likely, they'll break off the relationship when people stop paying attention. The Palins are working it out and it's nobody's business but theirs. Except where her family's actions conflict with her views, such as those on abortion and abstinence-only education. The era of the 'do-as-I-say-but-not-as-I-do' politician ended years ago, and Bristol's privacy rights evaporated when her mother chose to put herself and her family under scrutiny when she accepted the VP nomination. Realizing his surrogates may have stepped over the line with their misogynistic attacks... Obama has no surrogates. While I'm sure it's difficult to understand how an opposing candidate could watch this fiasco without clapping with glee, he's not interested in that. Never has been. That's been his platform for almost two years, evidenced in part by his remarks in a press conference that he'd fire anyone who attacked Bristol. If you want to make an attribution of malice, reserve it for the press. They love anything that smacks of hypocrisy. > her years as mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, are full of executive experience She doesn't seem to think so. She said it wasn't that hard. What was it, 60-some-odd staffers and 6000 people? Frankly, I think that Obama's success in campaigning against the entrenched might of Hilary Clinton is proof enough of his executive aptitude. Talk about overcoming the odds. When Washington sent Alaska that disgraceful "bridge to nowhere," Mrs. Palin refused the federal largesse, saying if Alaska wanted an expensive bridge they'd pay for it themselves. Her record says otherwise. She was all for the bridge until it became politically unpopular. Nor did the money ever go back to Washington; it was just retasked for other road-construction projects. It is the most pro-life platform in national party history. And it is a sterling commitment to the sanctity of every human life. We'll see. McCain wasn't nearly so pro-life in 2008. He's embraced that view for the sake of conservatives who might otherwise vote independent in protest, but there's no telling what he'll do if he makes it to office. Most probably, nothing.
