Everything that has been written about the Rubber Rooms created by the Dept. of Education is totally true. These "holding places" have been created mainly to remove teachers from schools because of age and top salaries. Mixed into these qualified, seasoned professionals, there ARE those who do NOT belong in the system. They are ALL mixed in together to create the most terrible environment that can get very volitile. It is the most degrading, unprofessional crowded place imaginable. This situation has been going on for over 10 years...the city, figuring if they can make the most unimaginable, uncomfortable, wasteland place to "stuff" professionals, that the professionals will give up and resign or retire. It is a grand waste of time and money...paying teachers and subs to cover the positions (at a much lower salary), legal fees on ALL ends, and barron time over many years.YES.....YEARS!!! And all of this because administrators wanted control of the schools. There are many more PRINCIPALS AND A.P. who are not fit to be in the schools than there are teachers. Many of them are mentally unfit to be in the presence of children.
