When I was about twelve, I heard Ms. Stevens on 'The Voice of Firestone' back in the early 1950s singing a selection from Carmen. I thought I was in heaven and have been there since. I repeated this story last evening with friends at opening night of 'La Traviata' at the Kennedy Center. We were telling stories about how we came to love opera. Thank you, Rise Stevens!!
