Great Public education has been a major concern for many parents and advocates in NYC.Charter schools require more resources which the public schools have been fighting for decades of years. If all students are given equal opportunity in better equipped schools, well trained teachers and principals etc and all the additional things which many of us parents are not aware of, all of our children rich or poor will excell.
Why should our public schools and parents have to fight for books, equipped science labs, better foods for our children, better college privileges etc when only the priviledged and chosen few will benefit from charter schools.? We really need to focus on making our public schools more efficient by reducing class sizes, providing resources for the students, teachers and parents etc and if you still want more charter schools disperse them more evenly throughout the other boroughs so everyone benefits(not only the chosen few)
Let us pray that we get our fare share of school funding to do what needs to be done.
