Changes Sought in Plans For South Street Seaport

This is just like the "Coney Island" solution. It seems the city can't think of any way to keep the unique elements that give it character and flavor alive. If there are nothing but condos and office buiuldings everywhere, New York will become a boring, homogenized city. Then we will lose tourist dollars and people will find it less attractive to live here. Some thought ought to be given to preserving and even enhancing the things that make New York an interesting, dynamic place before it is too late. Once these structures are built, there will be no chance to replace the Seaport or Coney Island Amusement Park. I'm old enough to remember Palisades Amusement Park - a quick 1/2 hour bus ride to New Jersey; now I couldn't even show you which part of the New Jersey shore it was on; it all looks the same.
