Frosted Flakes aside, No one with a scintilla of sense would question the obvious connection between Type 2 diabetes and obesity, or coronary heart disease, and high blood pressure, either. These are medical and facts. We are depleting the earth's resources faster than nature can replace them. That is the essence of the negative ecological footprint. Mr. Pachauri, Chairman of the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, told the Sunday Observer that the appetite for animal flesh is boosting fertilizer production, pollution and emission of greenhouse gases to dangerous levels, Pachauri added, "Give up meat - at least for one day a week - and we can help to save the Earth." A very cogent statement and reasonable request.
