I don't think anyone is writing Obama off or underestimating him, but it is simply that so many Democrats assumed that this was a slam dunk election as recently as a few months ago, something then reflected pretty much in the polls, and it is disconcerting or worse to now find it to be the reverse - a real battle where there is a real possibility that McCain can win. It is safe to say that this was Obama's race to lose. If he does indeed lose, the second guessing will be immense.
