President Bush pushing Nato up to the Russian border, ie encouraging Georgia membership in Nato, kills any chance for The Monroe Doctrine to continue. Our aggression has taken us to where the United States should not be, and now Russia can come to the Americas and as close to us as she wants. We started it going up to the Russian border, and now Russia can justify coming up to our border if a country asks her to come. The small war between Georgia and Russia recently underscores that the US created this situation. It showed us all what the US has been doing in Georgia and Ukraine. Bush will be known for many things, and killing The Monroe Doctrine will be one of them. I am not anti-Bush. I voted for him and would again if I had to chose between Bush and Gore or Kerry. But he has been wrong on expanding Nato.
