Astor Family Wants Hearings Closed to Public

Submitted by Debi Pavlo, Jan 5, 2007 21:11

Coming across this article brought back the stories my grandfather told me about John Jacob Astor cheating his father and many other men out of a great deal of money during the fur trading days. His name was Walter E.Lesher he confronted Mr. Astor about share of the business and a few days latter was found dead. This could explain those details, the lawyer, Ira Salzman, said, and should not be splashed across the front of New York newspapers. Mrs. Astor's decades of philanthropy amount to the blood money many men lost to John Jacob Astor. I for one think this should be wide open for the public to read about.. Maybe some the rightful people who should have shared the wealth might be revealed. Public hearings usually have a whole new out look on events.
