Remembering Monroe Doctrine as Tensions Rise in Americas

Submitted by I Crause, Sep 22, 2008 22:44

I have lived in Bolivia under Morales.Contrary to what large parts of the US press are now publishing, as if on cue, he is not a communist dictator. Those in Bolivia that have formed gangs and attack intellectuals are the opposition. They also carry out racial attacks on a regular basis. The LA Times yesterday, for instance, carried photos and a eulogy to a dead member of the Union Juvenil Crucenista, an organisation who are, by most civilised people, regarded as fascist boot-boys.They refer to him in the piece as a hero.It is very worrying that, as low as your currenbt government's moral standards are, they ally themselves with racist fascists. Here's a fairly good barometer of things;Journalists who criticise the Bolivian government in La Paz, for instance, are argued with as they would be in US politics.Sometimes they are even accused of lying. Journalists who criticise the opposition in Santa Cruz, however, get attacked. On one occasion remember a bomb being planted outside their TV station.Members of the government party in the region face a barrage of anonymous death threats and harrassment on an almost daily basis. They are actually very brave people, fighting to take back their country. It appears from events I witnessed and the changing formation of the opposition and the violence it employs, that The School Of The Americas in Georgia has once again employed it's terrorist expertise to sow chaos there.Still, I suppose to most Americans all foreigners are commie bastards and oh, the Emmys are on. Bolivia cambia, Evo digna, as the slogan goes.Bolivia is changing, Evo is giving it dignity. From my years there, I would say that is the truth.he hasn't as yet succeeded but he has made a superhuman effort at trying. It was an honour to live in his country and if it is still allowed to exist by your military I will live there again.Imagine if Bush got 67% of the vote??!! Don't allow the lunatics in your country to manipulate you out of your intelligence or decency, please.See through the fog of lies.
