The Sun could be a model for financial opportunity in the economic downturn. I actually did some independent research for a biz class and the readership of the Sun is growing steadily but has not reached a tipping point. The reality is, this paper is a good investment if a sort of small scale public investment model could be foisted. The state of New York should move to create legislation for such a model so the Sun can use this for an infusion of cash from loyal readers. For example, $100.00 a share with 500,000 shares floated out there. The Sun should also merge with a likeminded growing media entity like blip.tv to improve it's online video reporting. Eli Lake could be filling a niche for a certain type of reporting in the Middle East. As an additional revenue stream, the Sun could build educational content for civics classes that streams reports on city council meetings. There are lots of possibilities but the investment model doesn't exist. The Sun's financial strife and the need for this outlet in New York City should force some creative economy policy.
