Do Five Children Make a Vice President?

I do agree with the majority of your assessment, precisely that the election is between McCain and Obama and is about policies -people clearly lose sight of that. Nevertheless, I feel compelled to reply to some of the charges leveled in your article. Firstly, I find it baffling that people bring up Rev. Wright over and over again, when Sarah Palin was a member of the Alaska Independence Party (as per video confirmation of the Party Leader), and her husband was a member from 1997 to 2002. The party leader, Joe Vogler, is on record as saying "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for America." and "I'm an Alaskan, not an American. I've got no use for America or her damned institutions" Now, if the Obamas were associated with a movement to separate their state from the US, and their party leader said these things - it would be front page news for months. Somehow, the Palins' patriotism, either because they're republican or white, seems above questioning. I don't understand the double standard. Regarding Bill Ayers, he committed a crime when Obama was 8 years old and is now a professor for the University of Chicago. The university obviously deemed him employable and safe, I don't understand how the rest of us can now play judge and jury. I once had a teacher, whom I associated with a few times a week as part of my course, who was then arrested for murdering his wife. Am I now to be judged for having an association with a criminal? Am I now guilty of some unspeakable crime when my association with my teacher was strictly professional and required for completion of my course, as Obama's association with Bill Ayers was required for completion of his education reform? Just my two cents worth..
