The intellectual rot is deep, indeed. We have professors of prestigious universities who think that science is established by the authority of the Nobel committee or by "consensus". The same professors think that matters of politics and morality can be decided by science, a fundamental confusion of the "is" with the "ought". They cast others out of the realm of legitimate discussion based on distorted quotes and gossip. Prof. Sachs has every right to express his one sided political views. His invocation of intellectualism is a disgrace to himself and to his institution. Does Mr. Obama's church have a "fruitful" interchange of science and religion? That might be an interesting point of discussion for an intellectual. It's of no interest to the propagandist.
