Do Five Children Make a Vice President?

"Sarah" ought to get her facts straight. First: Sarah Palin was never a member of the Alaska Independence Party. The record shows she was always a registered Republican, at least since 1982, when she was 18 years old. Yes, her husband was in the late 1990's, but Sarah isn't her husband, and as she has amply demonstrated, is quite capable of speaking and acting independently. Obama, on the other hand, had more than just a passing acquaintance with Bill Ayres, who by the way, is a professor at the University of Illinois, not the University of Chicago, my alma mater. As was pointed out in yesterday's Wall Street Journal, Ayres and Obama worked very closely together at the Annenberg Foundation during the late 1990's, giving away millions to radical causes. On September 11, 2001 of all days, a thoroughly unapologetic Ayres was quoted as saying "We should have done more" in regard to bombing the Pentagon and various police stations. Sure, Ayres committed his crimes in the late 1960's, when Obama was eight. But Ayres was still proud of his acts when Obama was 40, and Obama knew that and still worked closely with him. Obama was age 8 when an equally-unrepentant Charlie Manson committed his crimes. If Obama had worked closely with Charlie in the 1990's, I guess Sarah would give Obama a pass for that, too. In Sarah's mind, guilt by association is a capital crime when it applies to Mrs. Palin, while left-wing Democrats skate.
