In my opinion right now there are a lot of people who don't pay taxes, and if they did it would help out, take drug dealers for example, they sell tons of drugs and make millions but the only cash they make that is taxed is state sales tax... but if there was a nation wide sales tax to replace payroll taxes then all those drug dealers who buy their Rolex watches and whatnot would have to pay their fair share! And don't bring up the "drug tax stamp" idea, which is absurd... anyone who thinks that a street thug will willingly pay taxes into a system that they despise and then sell drugs with a "tax stamp" on it is naive.
And that's only one example... I could go on and on for an hour exploring other examples, but I think you get the point.
So essentially, you'll have millions of more tax dollars coming in from people who shouldn't be rewarded by not having to pay Federal taxes. Instead of continuously pushing higher taxes on people who abide by the law. Pretty simplistic if you just think about it.
